The first CARE Climate Policy Case Competition, organized by the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto, showcased the innovative and impactful ideas of students tackling some of the most pressing climate challenges. This competition provided a platform for future leaders to demonstrate their creativity, analytical skills, and commitment to addressing the global climate crisis.

The competition’s topic, “Driving the Energy Transition: Crafting Public Policy for a Low-Carbon Future,” challenged participants to design innovative public policy solutions to accelerate the global shift to sustainable energy systems. Participants specifically were tasked with presenting a slide deck to German government decision-makers outlining a comprehensive public policy strategy to accelerate the energy transition and promote greater resilience within the German electricity system. We are delighted to share the presentation from the winning team, whose groundbreaking approach and actionable solutions stood out among an array of impressive submissions.

Congratulations to all the participants in the competition and especially to the winning team, a mixed team of students from Sciences Po and the University of Toronto:

  • Sharif Fatourehchi
  • Cassidy MacNeil
  • Kathryn McQuillan
  • Thomas Loubeyres
  • Naomi Trick
