The CARE program is delighted to announce the launch of the Sufficiency Collaborative Project, led by Dr. Yamina Saheb, Director of the World Sufficiency Lab at Sciences Po. This innovative initiative focuses on advancing sufficiency policies and practices—strategies that avoid resource use while ensuring equitable wellbeing within planetary boundaries.

The project will bring together 5 teams of students from CARE partner universities to conduct a systematic mapping of sufficiency policies in key areas such as urban settlements, food systems, digitalization, and trade. Over the next six months, participants will be trained in advanced research methodologies, including the use of EPPI and ASReview tools, enabling them to analyze large bodies of literature, identify knowledge gaps, and contribute new insights to this growing field.

Guided by Dr. Saheb, students will work collaboratively to produce a range of high-impact outputs. These include research papers summarizing their findings, policy briefs with actionable recommendations, and educational materials for the World Sufficiency Lab’s library. Key results will be shared during a webinar with stakeholders and presented at the Sufficiency Summer Gathering in June 2025.

The summer gathering will be hosted at Sciences Po in Paris and will feature a “Sufficiency in Practice” tour to sufficiency sites around France. These field visits will provide students with firsthand exposure to innovative sufficiency initiatives, connecting theoretical research with practical applications and fostering dialogue with leading experts.

By combining rigorous research, targeted training, and real-world engagement, the Sufficiency Collaborative Project exemplifies CARE’s mission to equip future leaders with the tools to address global sustainability challenges.
