Understanding of the scientific underpinnings of climate change is relatively advanced but humanity is lagging behind its ability to adapt to the rapid pace of impacts as evidenced by numerous recent events (fires, floods, drought, etc.). We will examine some of the recent literature on how better integration of social processes is necessary to find a pathway forward. Students will be asked to read some papers in advance and prepare short summaries as well as a list of new research questions integrating both the social sciences and the natural sciences, facilitated by Dr. Anand.
